5 Uses for an Antique Sideboard- A beautiful antique side in front of a window in the livingroom styled with stacks of books, a gold landscpae frame, oil lamp, terraium with houseplants, candle, vintage spritzer & another house plant resting on an old cigar box.

I was thrilled when my son gifted me this antique sideboard; he also gifted me the antique china cabinet that is part of a set. There are so many uses for antique sideboards; even though I am sharing 5 uses for an antique sideboard, I decided to use mine to host my television & a vintage stereo; however, for now, we are using it as a console table in the living room.

This thing is massive.

When my grandson & his friend made the trip to get it for me, I didn’t anticipate how heavy it would be. It took a lot of muscle to get it in the house, but these young bucks got the sideboard in the house with no issues. The sideboard was bigger than I thought it would be and was made of solid wood and made very well, either of solid oak, walnut, or maple wood. The top surface is flawless and smooth.

Initially, I had planned to use the furniture piece as a sofa table or a sideboard in the dining area; however, the original plans on how I wanted to use it didn’t work out, so after contemplating if we should sell it or figure out how we can make it work in our home was not easy.

I had an idea!

We had wanted to rearrange the living room for a while now. The layout has been pretty much the same since we moved here five years ago. I started thinking of how we could place the furniture where it still would look cozy & inviting. As I started moving the furniture around, I could envision how it would look with the sideboard on the gallery wall and use the side board for the tv. I loved it!

We have a problem!

For us to move the television under the gallery wall, the cable must be installed on that side. So, I need to reach out to my cable company to take care of it once we have a day to make it happen.

  1. We’re sticking it out in our house for awhile but a deal with my wife is to get the kitchen more what she wants/needs. Kitchen island is high on the list so this may come in handy sooner rather than later

  2. Beautiful!
I have two in my house. One I got out of a friends shed and I had to clamp, glue, stain and varnish back to life. I have this one in my living room and it hides a lot of stuff from camera equipment to antique silver, and holiday napkins. It also hold the tv.
The other one has an old China cupboard top on it that holds my wine glasses and champagne while the bottom holds tea lights, office supplies and craft supplies. I fell in love with this one at a garage sale.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and perspective.
