Bathroom Refresh

Sharing is caring!

Before & After of our Bathroom on a budget

When we moved into our home almost three years ago, I knew right away there were some things that need to be taken care of. Our bathroom was one of them & it wasn’t in bad shape. However, the toilet was facing the door & your knees were bunched up to the radiator cover.

We wondered why anyone would have the toilet that way. So we contacted our friend, who is a plumber & asked him if the toilet can be facing the vanity. He came over to look & take some measurements & sure enough; it could be turned. We were happy about this.

A bathroom with a brown & white tile that goes sup to half of the wall. An enclosed tub & shower. White ceramic tile floor.

The tub had glass sliding doors….again; it had to be made for a short person because you had to duck to get into the tub. We decided to get a whole new toilet & we are happy we did. So we had a new toilet installed & switched around & got rid of the disgusting & ugly glass doors on the tub & added a curtain rod & shower curtain. What a difference it made!

A freshly updated bathroom . A free standing shelf over the toilet displaying houseplants, glass jars for Q-tips & cotton balls & misc. decor items. The walls covered with brown & white tile half way up the wall. Next to the toilet is a basket to hold extra toilet paper.

The old vanity was in bad shape, and it was a shame that it could not be saved because it was solid wood. However, it was pretty beaten up. And guess what? You guessed it; it was made for a short person! LOL

Black towel hooks by the shower. A silver trash can by the vanity. A houseplant hanging from the trim of a large window.

We are going to sand the mirror & restain it to a darker finish to match the vanity.

A Bathroom refresh also includes the details

We have been doing little by little on a tight budget & it is coming along nicely. The door & glass doorknob is original to the house, which I love & I am so happy it is still intact. We changed out some little things, for example, the ceiling light fixture, Towel hooks & outlets & covers.

As soon as we have the funds, we are going to make sure the sub-floor is well-braced & we are wanting to add a claw-foot tub. But that project will be expensive.

So, for now, we will live with some of the updates we already made & we are quite happy with how it turned out. Things take time & money.
