A Creek Walk, A Random Thrift Day, and One Happy Gal
My clan & I decided to go to the creek so we could take our pup & walk around & explore. I wanted to get to one of my favorite thrift stores, so we decided to go there first and have a random thrift day. There weren’t a whole lot of good finds, but I did acquire a few things. I was a happy gal 🙂
I am also intentional when I am thrifting. As I look at things, I will think about how I use them in my home or if I have room. I wanted quite a few things but had no use for them. I do not want to hold things in my house that are not being used.
Intentional Thrifting: Small Finds With Big Purpose
I have wanted a small wooden chair for my secretary’s desk for quite some time. They had all their chairs for $10 each. What a steal. It is a little too orange for my taste but one day I will sand it & stain it a darker color. However, I was quite happy with it. It looks so darling next to my secretary’s desk.
Not that I needed another crock, nor is it vintage, but I like using them for plants or large bouquets. I only paid five dollars for it. It’s a little more than I would pay, but I knew I would put it to good use. And why not add more vintage mason jars to my collection? By now, you know that mason jars are my favorite things to use in my kitchen to store dry goods. Lol 🙂 The blue ones are pretty old. And the small, clear one is so cute. I could not pass it up.

The one on the back left didn’t have a lid, but I could use it for fresh-cut flowers—I often repurpose mason jars for that. Plus, I can always check Etsy for a glass lid; I’ve had success finding them there before.

I already had a couple of clear mason jars with glass lids & have been wanting a smaller blue one & I was so happy to have found one. It was $5, but for me, it was worth it. You don’t see them too often cheaper than that. All they need is, is a good cleaning & ready to be used.

Local stores and larger chains like Salvation Army offer weekly sales or color tag discounts. - Bring Measurements
That wooden chair may look like it fits your secretary’s desk, but quickly checking your notes can save you a return trip. - Bundle and Bargain
Especially at garage sales or small-town shops, buying multiple items may give you some wiggle room on price. - Don’t Ignore the Books and Magazines
Old National Geographics, vintage cookbooks, and even quirky self-help books can add charm to a shelf or be repurposed for crafts. - Have Fun With Deep Dives
Spend time browsing—some cool finds happen after a good 30-minute deep dive through racks or shelves.
