Perfect for Our Kitchen
I have loved antiques for many years, just as I do when it comes to an old house, and this antique medicine cabinet, also known as a shaving cabinet, is one of them. I remember buying it, thinking I would hang it in the guest bathroom. Then I thought, I have a great idea; I have the perfect spot for it in the kitchen. It has easy access to pain relievers, band-aids, etc. I love the original wood shelves and the little details they have.
It is also perfect for storing some of my favorite décor pieces on the top shelf, which I inherited from my grandmother. Can you believe I found this in the thrift store for $5 many years ago? Seriously, y’all, FIVE dollars!
Who says the antique medicine cabinet has to hang in the bathroom or powder room? It is a perfect addition to our kitchen. Since I thrifted the cabinet, it has hung in our kitchen for as long as I can remember.
My family and I find it very useful because our other kitchen cabinets don’t have enough room to store our pain relievers, prescriptions, etc. Not only is it functional, but it is also such a quaint little cabinet that adds warmth and beauty to my kitchen while serving a purpose in my house today!
In my everyday routine, when I come downstairs to start the day, I head straight to the antique cabinet to grab my vitamins and medications—a small but comforting ritual that connects the past with the present.
Another thought I had is that when we add a new bathroom, instead of purchasing a new cabinet, I could add our antique medicine cabinet in there. However, I may look for another antique cabinet. We do love having it in our kitchen!
