Homemade cranberry sauce is a sweet and lightly tart relish that is a simple recipe to make with just a few ingredients, in addition to using real cranberries. And, it can be made in less than thirty minutes.
If you use a store-bought can or make homemade cranberry sauce, it will be the perfect complement to your feast. However, once you have made this delicious cranberry sauce, you will never want to use can store-bought again. Besides, Cranberry sauce is one of those sides that you can often have with dinner any time of the year.

Can I Freeze Cranberry Sauce?
Yes! You can store it in a freezer for up to 3 months using an airtight container (be sure to leave the 1/2-inch gap on top for expansion as it freezes).
Can I Freeze cranberries until I am ready to use?
Absolutely, you just need to remove it from the freezer 15-20 minutes before you are ready to use. However, if needed quickly, another tip is that you can also thaw it in the microwave as well.
Can I make Cranberry Sauce in Advance?
Ultimately, it can be made up to two days and refrigerated at least two days before the holidays. However, the sauce can also be made two hours ahead of time and serve it chilled
How long does homemade cranberry sauce last?
As long as you store it correctly in a sealed container such as a mason jar, the homemade cranberry sauce will keep in the refrigerator for about 10 to 14 days.

What Can I Make with Leftover Cranberry Sauce?
- Drizzle offer ice cream
- Use a topping for pound cake
- Make cranberry muffins
- Delicious in a smoothie
- Add a Dollop in Oatmeal
- Spread on crackers with cream cheese
- Serve with your choice of meat
Ingredients
- 1 c orange juice
- 2 bags cranberries
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 2-3 cups sugar (I used 3 to add more sweetness)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil while occasionally stirring and let it simmer for 30 minutes and continue to mash to your desired consistency.
Note: This recipe made 5 pints plus 1 1/2 pint.
Tip: To get a smooth consistency, use an immersion blender or food processor.
How do I make cranberry sauce for shelf storage?
You will want to prepare your cranberry sauce for canning. After filling jars, boil in the bath for 10 minutes.
Notes: Cranberries are naturally rich in pectin
How do you reduce the bitterness in cranberry sauce?
Stir in one tablespoon maple syrup and one teaspoon sweet drink like apple juice, orange juice, or fruity white or red wine.

- 2 bags cranberries
- 2-3 cups sugar (i used 3 for sweetness)
- 1 cup OJ
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
Combine ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Occasionally stirring. Simmer for 30 minutes and mash to your desired consistency.

This recipe made 5 pints plus 1 1/2 pint.
