How to toast Pecans are so easy to make whether you toast them in the oven or on the stove; they will simply be a delicious snack to enjoy.
I remember when my grandmother would shell pecans she often received from her brother in Georgia. She would have this huge box of shelled pecans, and she would be so giddy with excitement. I remember sitting with her in the living room, shelling those pecans & could not wait to snack on them. It was a delightful snack we both so enjoyed.

Years later, it is still one of my favorite snacks. How to Toast Pecans is so easy & delicious, you will want to add this to your list of snacks to indulge on. I add them to recipes & they are incredibly delicious when Toasting them either in the oven or on the stovetop.
Ingredients for Toasted Pecans
- Pecans
- Sea Salt
- Real Butter
Oven Method for Toasted Pecans
- Preheat oven to 350°
- In a cast-iron skillet or a baking sheet, layer pecans & drizzle butter all over pecans. Roast in the oven for about 5 minutes, then toss pecans & roast for additional 5 minutes until they are golden brown.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt butter in a microwave-safe dish.
- Spread pecans in a single layer on a lined baking sheet and drizzle the melted butter over the pecans.
- Roast in the oven for about 5-10 minutes until golden brown, tossing the pecans halfway through cooking time.
- Once pecans are golden brown. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with sea salt if desired. Let cool and Enjoy!
Stovetop Method for Toasted Pecans
- Melt a tablespoon of butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat.
- Add pecans to skillet and cook, continually tossing until golden and fragrant as you cook. Remove skillet from heat, sprinkle with sea salt (if desired), and let cool.

It can vary on which method you use for toasting. Below are approximate times.
Oven ~ 5-10 minutes
Stovetop ~ About 3-5 minutes
Can I toast pecans without using butter?
Yes, you sure can! However, just be mindful that the butter helps intensify the flavor and helps your seasonings (or salt) stick better. But, of course, if you want to cut out that fat, they are still delicious, and you can definitely dry roast them.
Can you toast other nuts with this method?
Absolutely! you may need to cook them in less time. Just keep a close eye on them. So many nuts are deliciously toasted. Walnuts, almonds, peanuts, and so many more are so delicious.
What are some other ingredients that can be added?
Maple syrup ~ lightly drizzle maple syrup over the pecans before roasting them.
Cinnamon Sugar Pecan ~ Mix 1 cup of pecans with 1 tablespoon of butter and ad in ¼ cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Sweet and Spicy ~ Mix 1 cup of pecans with 1 tbs of brown sugar to a dash of red pepper.
Honey Roasted Pecans ~ Mix 1 Tablespoon of honey to 1 cup of pecans, mix well and bake. Watch to make sure they don’t burn!

Both raw and toasted nuts are very good for you and provide excellent health benefits. However, both raw & roasted contain similar amounts of protein, calories, fiber, and carbs. However, roasting nuts may damage their healthy fat and reduce their nutrient content, and form a harmful substance called acrylamide.
