When I was out thrifting for some good finds, I came across this Unique Vintage Swivel Top Table made of solid wood. At first, I thought it was an end table because it had cabriole legs.

Not the greatest color!

It was painted a mustard color with a bit of damage on the top and had the original hardware that was still intact for the most part but could use some tightening up. But other than that, it was in very good condition. It was so unique, and I had to have it.

This Unique Vintage Swivel Top Table is not just a Table!

After further investigating, I noticed it was not just a table; it had a swivel top. The more I thought about it, the more I realized it was probably used as a TV stand for a small television because it would be a perfect size for one and be ideal for small spaces.

It could be from the 18th century or early 19th century

I have never seen anything like it. So without even thinking about it, I just use it as an end table in my living room for visual interest. The color didn’t bother me so much, but I figured I would try to restore it to its former glory one day.

Restoration of Unique Vintage Swivel Top Table.

My neighbor restored furniture as a hobby, and I told him about the swivel top table I had and asked him if he could restore it for me. He graciously did it for me.

  • Removing the paint

First, he took everything apart to remove all the paint and worked on removing the veneer that was on the top.

  • Tightened the hardware

He also tightened the original hardware and left everything intact. The table top had some issues but could not be removed, but I was ok with that. It was in perfect condition. We both agreed that It gives it character anyway. I was so grateful for his generosity!

  • Staining

Lastly, stained it with an almond stain. You can now see the beautiful wood grains by removing all the mustard yellow paint.

Did you know that television is one of the most often used items in every household?

According to The Nielsen Company, there are 120.6 million TV households in the United States for the 2019-2020 television season (a “TV home” has at least one operable television). TV is like a member of a big family that has something for everyone. Something entertaining is always available to watch on television for everyone, regardless of age.

TV Tables are Still Used In the Traditional Style.

The TV is usually placed on a stand or table, and several TV stand styles are on the market today. However, new technologies have emerged, and many televisions now have wall attachments, allowing them to be affixed to a variety of walls.

Consumers may choose from a variety of popular TV table styles. However, contemporary tables have a variety of forms and are multi-purpose, allowing them to be utilized in various ways.

Repurpose and Upcycle Your Old Television

Discarded furniture accounts for around 5% of household garbage produced in the United States each year, with an estimated 12 million tons of that being furniture. Why not repurpose and upcycle your old television stand instead of contributing to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) numbers? Here are some methods to repurpose an antique TV stand:

The Creative Ways That You Can Use Your Vintage TV Stand

  • Use it as a vintage gaming table.

Whether you like to play cards, checkers, chess, or play board games, make sure to add comfortable side chairs to get your game on! It will surely make a great game or card table in your game room.

  • It can be used to hold a small turntable record player.

This is another incredible thing you can do with your vintage TV stand. Convert it to a small table, give it a stylish design, and use it as a turntable.

  • Another technique to repurpose a vintage TV stand is to decorate it with collectibles.

Convert the table’s side slots that are usually underutilized for shelving. Make a little shelf on each side of the table to keep small decorative things. Add some ornamental lights to complete the appearance.

  • Make a small bar table out of an old television stand.

Arrange the table by adding racks and serving various beverages in each part. Smaller portions can be used to store wine glasses and other cocktail glasses. Finally, decorate it with dazzling lights to give some pizazz.

  • You may use an antique TV stand to store stuff in your kitchen or storage.

Most kitchens have a plethora of devices and equipment strewn about. Keep things organized by using the television stand as a rack. Your kitchen will be kept in order, and the table will be repurposed.

  • Use as a serving table.

Another idea is to add it to your dining table for appetizers or drinks. This will free up space on the dining room table.

Get Creative!

Use your creativity when it comes to how you use antique TV stands and other pieces of furniture in your house. Older furniture may be used in a variety of ways and for a variety of purposes. With a bit of creativity, an outdated TV stand may be given new life!
