Who doesn’t love a clean & organized space? In this post, I am sharing 8 tips on Organization Motivation | How I Get Back On Track.

Something about spring gives me the motivation to clean out and organize. I am usually very good at keeping things organized. These 8 tips on Organization Motivation | How I Get Back On Track are what has worked for me & I am sure they will for you too!

Start with something small

The first place I started with was the secretary desk. I filed items where they belonged & kept the check ledger, envelopes & blank cards in the drawer.

All of my office accessories, such as stamps, tape, &, etc., are kept in the compartments inside the desk & I store my notebooks & bills on the side.

Using baskets & bins for organization

The TV cabinet is where we keep our cable box, stereo, vinyl records & music CDs. The baskets I purchased to hold the CDs that I ordered are perfect for the cabinet as well as using an old wood crate that holds the vinyl records & it works well inside the cabinet. I use this drawer to store headphones, phone chargers & any extra cords. I love how the makeup remover container worked out for our extra phone adapters.

Use what you have to contain items

We use a pie cabinet as a mini pantry where we store large jars of dry goods, baskets for cereal bags & can goods. You also can find jars at any local department or craft store, such as Target & Amazon, which is where I found mine to help me get organized.

Moving forward to Organization Motivation

As I move to clean out the hutch,  I didn’t realize it was so disorganized! Old houses typically lack closet space, so I have to be creative in using every inch of space I can for storage. I started my cleanout with the cabinet that houses my candles, jars, linens & vases. I removed what we haven’t used & donated them. Restaurant menus in a folder and moved my notepads into one of the drawers. The extra bin works well for storing my candlesticks. I have a divided bin in the other drawer that stores extra office supplies.

Remove everything and start over

If you remember my previous post about my armoire, you will remember that I utilize it to hold all of our linens & extra toiletry supplies.  It takes no time for things to get disorganized when you have a family of five! So, I removed everything from the armoire so that I can have a fresh start to reorganize. The baskets on the bottom shelf are used to hold all the toiletries & the shampoo, conditioner, and soap bottles are stored on the bottom shelf. The bottom drawer holds extra cosmetic bags & light bulbs.

Make use of items you already have for storing important papers & folders for organization.

I moved on to the stack of folders & sorted through the papers. Sorting through all the papers literally took me several hours. Since I don’t have a home office, I use a vintage sewing box where I keep folders that I need to access easily and quickly.
