American Country Style Home Decor

I want my home to be comfortable and inviting, so whether it’s new, antique, or vintage, I want that old-world charm feel. Take a look inside at a few of my favorite things for American Country Style Home Decor to give you inspiration.

If you have been following me for a while, you know I have a love for American country-style home decor, and therefore adding antiques & vintage decor to add beauty & charm to our old house built circa 1885. 

Also, I am sharing the furniture & Antiques that are timeless and also use in our home for intentional use and add that charm & coziness to our home. Handmade items are common in an American country style: wooden and rustic furniture, wrought iron, and antiques. 

The blanket chest 

We have a chest in our living room that is the perfect accent for our living room whereas it is also used to store extra blankets and serves as a coffee table.

Cast-iron

Whether you use cast iron for display or everyday cooking as I do, they sure do add a nice touch to your kitchen for that American Country style look.

19th century Ice Box

An antique icebox that adds warmth & charm to our 1885 home that is used not only as an end table to hold our lamp, plant & some decor but also as a liquor cabinet.

China Cabinet

An early 1960’s maple wood cabinet to display our China & some of my vintage decor to add a vignette.

Vintage Sink

This 1950’s vintage porcelain sink is not only functional, but it also adds charm to our country cottage-style kitchen.

Stepback Cabinet

This vintage cabinet made in the 1940s is the perfect size to add to our laundry room to home our extra linens & garden supplies and it also makes the perfect accent to my American Country style.

Antique Crocks

As you move from room to room, you will find antique crocks that I had thrifted many years ago that are used for decorating and storing fur babies’ toys, collections of rolling pins, and kitchen tools.

Vintage Bed Frame

A beautiful spindle bed frame for a guestroom that adds so much charm.

Secretary Desk

This little desk is not only functional for paying bills, and not to mention it makes it much easier to keep things today in this small space and adds beauty!

Antique Armoire Perfect for Linens

In an old home built in 1885, closets were very small & limited space, therefore we needed to be creative for storing linens. This armoire that I found on the marketplace is perfect for just that!

A beautiful tigerwood dresser with stunning detail adds beauty & charm to our master bedroom.

Baskets used for intentional use

Alongside my collection of crocks, you will find an assortment of many baskets used for storage & decor.

Adding more storage

This simple design oak wood bookcase hosts all of our books, albums & a collection of family heirlooms to add visual interest.

Additional Bedroom storage

All five bedrooms have a chest at the end of the beds to store personal items and extra linens. This has been a necessity to help keep those items tucked away.

What can I use for American Country Style Home Decor?

Country-style homes are made with natural materials and mainly wood such as hardwood floors and beams. You will also find that it is decorated in rich colors, and has a cozy, nostalgic feel.

How do I make my home look American country style?

Use natural materials such as wood, for example, wood floors, farm tables, rustic dressers, or a cabinet. Also, adding linens & textures such as blankets, quilts and pillows will give your home that country-style home that will show that vintage charm yet makes you feel warm & cozy. Also, Rooms decorated in American Country Style Home Decor are relaxed, inviting & comfortable with simple adornments.

  1. Dusty, I LOVE your home decor! It’s exactly what we want! Once we get into our forever home, we’re going to start visiting thrift stores and do some antiquing to add to our collection. Love it all!!

  2. Do you know what I noticed, your photos had WOOD pieces in them. Not crappy fake wood, but wood, back when things were made to last. Your home looks lovely!!

    1. You are too kind, thank you! Yes, I only have wood furniture. I am not a fan of the cheap stuff either. Wood furniture will essentially last forever as long as you take care of it!
