When I hear the term “homemaker,” I think of someone who takes care of the household and manages the daily tasks and responsibilities of maintaining a home. This may include tasks such as cleaning, cooking, organizing, budgeting, and caring for family members.

A homemaker creates a warm and comfortable living environment for their family and manages family life, including caring for children and family finances.

I have been self-employed for over 20 years, and I have learned a few things over the years.

There was so much to learn about being a business owner in the first couple of years. For the most part, I am always organized.

But when it came to the financial side, paying taxes, setting money aside for taxes & filling out the proper paperwork was a whole different story. 

How did I come to work from home?

I had worked outside the home for many years before I got laid off. I started babysitting for a friend, which led me to be a licensed daycare owner; then, two years later, we were blessed with twin girls. A year later, I was doing professional photography. I wholeheartedly believe this was God’s plan so I could stay home to raise my twin daughters.

For me to earn enough money to provide for my family while being a successful homemaker, I had daily to-do lists to keep me organized & maintain a clean home. But the important thing to remember is to give yourself grace when you don’t accomplish it all in one day. 

Sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day & have a very little time frame to get it all done. Believe me; sometimes, I feel like I am performing a juggling act to accomplish it all.

My mornings start with waking up at 5 am!

I get myself ready for the day, and then I work my way downstairs to tend to the animals, then coffee & devotions. Having a morning routine helps me establish a sense of structure and productivity for the rest of the day. It sets a positive tone and allows me to start my day with intention and purpose.

By waking up early, getting ready for the day, tending to the animals, and enjoying a cup of coffee while spending time on devotions, I am able to prioritize self-care, connect with nature and my spirituality, and fuel myself for the day ahead.
