This is a DIY for making your own All-Purpose household cleaner with commonly used ingredients that you may already have on hand.

This Homemade All-Purpose Cleaner is so easy to make and simple to create for a non-toxic cleaner for your daily cleaning.

I have been using this Homemade All-Purpose Cleaner for several years to clean my home. It is an effective cleaner for hard water and rust stains, especially around the sink & tub and in the kitchen. Still, it works wonders for removing dirt and grime in your home. It is just effective as my Homemade Laundry Detergent!

If you have been using Dawn dish soap as I do for my cleaner for cleaning antique furniture, then you know it is a fantastic cleaner for removing grease from your dishes. And, By purchasing Dawn dish soap, you are giving back to help save wildlife.

What do you need to make a Homemade All-Purpose Cleaner?

White Distilled or Cleaning Vinegar

Dawn Dish Soap

Warm Water

Lemon Essential Oil (optional)

Tools needed to make cleaner

16oz Spray bottle

Funnel

How do you make All Purpose cleaner with Dawn and vinegar?

Step 1. Mix equal amounts of white distilled or cleaning vinegar and warm water in a spray bottle.

Step 2. Then add about a 1/2 teaspoon of dish soap.

Step 3. Lastly, add the nozzle & shake well.

Optional: Add 20 drops of lemon essential oil

How do you use the All-Purpose cleaner?

Just spray it on the surface, works amazingly on the kitchen sink area, too; take a micro-fiber towel or paper towel, and wipe clean. Next, rinse windows and mirrors with clean water to clear any suds.

This Homemade all-purpose cleaner does a fabulous job with cleaning & disinfecting.

Once the ingredients are added to the spray bottle, you can gently shake one or two times to mix everything. Then, spray and wipe to clean and disinfect surfaces.

If you are worried about the strong vinegar smell, you will be pleasantly surprised it will smell more like Dawn than vinegar!

What does vinegar do when you clean with it?

When vinegar is diluted with water, it is a natural and non-toxic cleaning solution that helps kill household bacteria. It also dissolves hard-water deposits and cuts through grime at a fraction of the cost of brand-name cleaning products.

Can Dawn dish soap clean everything?

Dawn dish soap will cut through the grease from your dishes from the grease from food! It also works great to clean soap scum. Just squirt it all over the area you want clean such as a tub or sink and use a stiff-bristled scrub brush to lather and scrub it away. It also works wonderfully for cleaning your microwave too!

The difference between Distilled White Vinegar vs. Cleaning Vinegar

Although many types of vinegar can be used for cooking and cleaning, while distilled white vinegar can do both, cleaning vinegar is not recommended for cooking. Because cleaning vinegar has a higher acidic content than milder distilled white vinegar, it also has more cleaning power.

Where can I find cleaning vinegar?

The local grocery store carries cleaning vinegar. It can usually be found in the baking aisle and other kinds of vinegar.

Can This All-Purpose homemade cleaner be used on everything in your home?

Unfortunately, an all-purpose cleaner isn’t ideal for every surface in your home. While the homemade all-purpose cleaner works well on most household surfaces, it may not do the best job or cause damage in some instances.

Lastly, both ingredients are amazing at dissolving tough grime. However, you will find that vinegar alone will simply run off of most surfaces, while dish soap is too thick to use as a spray. But when mixed together, you get an effective, sprayable cleaner that sticks to any surface and will do an excellent job cleaning!
