Microwave Cleaning Hack
This Microwave Cleaning Hack is so easy & you do not use any harsh chemicals for cleaning and have your microwave looking spic & span clean!
If you use your microwave regularly as my clan does, then more than likely, it has to be cleaned often. So, I will share a microwave cleaning hack with you on how to Clean a microwave without using harsh chemicals.
If you use cleaning sprays to clean your microwave, you will want to stop.
Cleaning a microwave without harsh chemicals is crucial to not leak any chemicals in your food when heating up. Furthermore, a chemical odor lingers for a while, which could seep into your food.
How to clean your microwave without using harsh chemicals?
Take a towel and wet it real good, wring it until it’s not dripping. Place the wet towel in the microwave and then turn it on for 1-2 minutes.
- Leave the hot wet towel in a closed microwave for 5 minutes.
- The steam from the wet towel will loosen any residue in the microwave.
- Use the wet hot towel and wipe the microwave clean. Throw the dirty towel in the wash.
You not only clean your microwave, but you also didn’t use any harsh chemicals.
I find taking the turntable plate & ring out of the microwave and wash in the sink. This will make it easier to clean the microwave.
Tip: use a few sheets of paper towels, and follow the process stated above, except when done, Throw the paper towel in the trash.
What if the microwave has an odor?
This Microwave Cleaning Hack method for cleaning your microwave to rid of any odors is a mixture of water, vinegar & Dawn dish soap in a spray bottle. If you do not have a spray bottle, use a basin to mix together & use a towel to clean.
Take a spray bottle, mix equal parts of vinegar and warm water; add a squirt of Dawn dish soap. Shake bottle til concoction is mixed well. Spray the inside of the microwave & let set sit for 5-10 minutes. Wipe clean!
How to clean the inside of a greasy microwave window door?
Use the spray bottle method, 1:1 ratio of vinegar & water, add a squirt of Dawn dish soap. Shake well, & spray on the window. Wipe clean. Repeat if necessary.
How to clean stubborn stains & residues?
Another hack is to mix baking soda & warm water until you have a paste consistency. Use a sponge or cloth and dip into the paste and apply on the affected areas. Let it sit for a few minutes & wipe clean.
- Make a paste using two parts baking soda to one part warm water. You can make as much or as little as needed.
- Apply this paste to any stained areas of the microwave, letting it sit for 3-5 minutes to soak in.
- Use a clean cloth or paper towel to clean the microwave.
Repeat if necessary.
Can you use foil or metal objects for cleaning a microwave?
It is not recommended using such foil or metal objects can cause damage to the machine by either scratching key elements or protection.
How do I clean the touchpad and vent in my microwave?
These areas tend to accumulate as well. Take some dish soap & warm water in a bowl. Dip a sponge, clean cloth, or soft bristle brush and clean the affected areas.
How to clean outside of microwave
To clean the surface of your microwave, use a non-abrasive sponge or clean cloth. Use the mixture of dawn dish soap & warm water mixture in a spray bottle. Spray the outside of the microwave and dry the exterior with a soft lint-free cloth.
