We have been making it for years & this banana bread recipe has become a family favorite here in our home & let me tell you that it is so easy to make. I was given this recipe by a friend many years ago and I have shared this recipe as well with friends & family over the years.
We always have an abundance of bananas that are a little too ripe to eat but they are perfect for making Banana bread.
Tools needed to make homemade banana bread
- Stand mixer or hand-held electric mixer
- Measuring cup
- Large bowl
- Mixing Bowl
- Wire Rack
- Loaf Pan
- Bread Knife

Ingredients
- 2 Large Bananas
- ¾ c sugar
- ½ c Crisco Vegetable Shortening applesauce can be substituted
- 2 eggs
- ¼ c milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 c All-Purpose Flour
- 1 c Nuts optional
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to °350
- Mix ingredients the dry ingredients, combine flour, sugar, and baking soda in a large mixing bowl, and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the wet ingredients, Milk, Crisco, eggs, vanilla extract & bananas, and mix well.
- Once the wet ingredients are combined, slowly add the flour mixture to the banana mixture a little at a time until well mixed.
- Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes. Poke the center of the loaf with a toothpick, if it comes out clean it is done.
- Remove the loaf of banana bread from the pan & cool on a wire rack.
- Dust generously with powdered sugar when cool.
