  • Potatoes-You can use leftover potatoes or russet potatoes to make the topping for your pie.
  • Garlic-Of course, this is optional; it enhances the flavor of your meat.
  • Black Pepper-Pepper to taste to your liking.
  • Butter-Add melted butter to a large skillet or baking dish.
  • Sour Cream-To kick it up a notch, add it to your potatoes.
  • Milk-Mix into your potatoes to make them creamy.
  • Parsley-This is totally optional.

How to Make Shepard’s Pie with Ground Turkey Recipe

  1. Preheat oven to 400°
  2. Add about 2 lbs of cut-up potatoes to a large pot of water & place on medium heat, and bring to a full boil until the potatoes are fork tender.
  3. While waiting on the potatoes, prepare the meat.
  4. Add melted butter or olive oil, meat, onions, garlic, black pepper & broth over medium-high heat in a large skillet.
  5. Once the turkey mixture is thoroughly cooked, place it in a baking dish, or if you cook in a cast iron skillet, just leave it there.
  6. Now for the potatoes, add sour cream & milk and mash until it’s a creamy, fluffy mixture.
  7. Spread a smooth layer of potatoes over the top of the filling.
  8. Place in a preheated oven for 45 minutes or until potatoes are golden brown. (Cooking time may vary due to your range)
  9. Serve & enjoy!
