Learn how to make homemade applesauce is an easy & delicious recipe that is made with just three ingredients & can be made in less than 45 minutes! There is nothing better than homemade Applesauce that can be paired with your favorite meal or just have as a healthy snack!

We always have an abundance of apples, so when we need to use them up before they spoil, we will make our own homemade Applesauce. With a little bit of time, It is easier than you think with just four ingredients.
Ingredients
All you need is 3 pounds of apples, water, sugar, and lemon juice. However, you can also add your favorite seasoning, whether it be cinnamon, nutmeg, or allspice.
Lemon juice is optional, however, I did add it into my recipe to reduce the tartness, but that is totally up to you!
Can I can Applesauce?
Yes! You can absolutely can this Applesauce for long-term storage using a water canning bath, when canning, be sure to follow proper canning protocol to prevent accidental cross-contamination.

Uses for Homemade Applesauce
Homemade Applesauce is a delicious snack at any time of the day, In addition, you can also pair it with some of your favorite dishes, such as pork chops & yogurt as well. If you have a large batch, you could make muffins or add it for a nice flavor for your smoothie.
What are the best apples for Applesauce?
There are a variety of apples such as Honeycrisp, fuji, red delicious, Granny Smith, McIntosh, or gala & so on. They also will have their own natural flavoring. You can choose by what are your favorite.

How to Store Homemade Applesauce
Any leftovers of applesauce can be stored in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container, it will keep for about a week or two as long as it is stored properly. I store homemade Applesauce in a mason jar, but you can use any container with a sealed tight lid that works for you have on hand.
Ingredients for Applesauce Recipe
- 3 lbs of apples
- 1 cup of water
- 2 tsp Lemon Juice
- Sugar (optional)
Equipment needed
Large Pot
Wooden spoon
Potato Masher
Mason Jars (1 quart)
Food processor, blender, or food mill

How to make homemade Applesauce
Ingredients
- 3 lbs of apples
- 1 cup of water
- 2 tsp Lemon Juice
- Sugar
Instructions
You will need 3 pounds per quart of applesauce.
1. Peel, core, and quarter apples & place in a large saucepot.
2.Cook apples with 1 c of water so they don't stick.
3.Stir frequently & cook over medium heat until soft.
4. Once apples are soft, transfer to a food processor, food mill, or blender until smooth. If you want some chunkiness to your applesauce, only transfer half to puree.
3. Return pureed applesauce to a pot and bring it to a boil.
5. Add sugar a little at a time.
6. Taste to see how sweet the apples are to your liking. 7. Add lemon juice if desired.
8. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, or allspice the last 5 minutes of cooking time if you desire.
Notes
Keep in the fridge for up to 7+10 days in a sealed container.
You can use brown sugar, honey, agave, or maple syrup in place of sugar.
